people with house chickens

I just got Muffy in November she's. Almost 4 years old.

Oh no way! I've seen muffy she's adorable. I saw her on Google before I saw her on here in a Google thread
That lead me here. But we'll say she's just a Google star :)

How did you get her to be so loveable..??

Some chickens prefer peoples company. If you know of any people w a lot of birds they probably have one that's flows them around more than the others. That's a good start! The more you have not new flock oriented they will be. Muffy is dependent on us as her flock :) we preen, and talk to her. We cuddle and love her. My friend on spots corner had 2 birds she raised from hatchlings and they r loving. Jut have to be patient. It's so hard all you want is to cuddle them. Let them come to you!

Thanks for the advice :) I originally.. Sorry my daughter hah originally only wanted the female. They were sold as a pair and I felt like a schmuck for even considering splitting them. It would appear that would stress her more and perhaps loose the cause to get her comfortable all together. So they're together and I like the rooster he's curious, not aggressive but still very timid. She on the other hand is one ornery bird. She's a broody hen and after doing some research appears she may be brooding. She's bit me once and pecked me countless times and I have hardly touched her. I just have their coop door open so they can explore if they feel the need to do so. I'm trying very hard not to stress them and I don't want to do anything wrong.. And make them reverse all small and possible progress.

If she's broody watch him lol that's when they get defensive and protective if their ladies. Muff lays an egg sometimes in her diaper and runs away from it hahah

Oh yes he's very protective of her. Is this going to be a constant thing because I'm not sure my daughter will be happy just looking at them forever?

Haha that's cute! :D

Sunni is pretty upset with me today. First of all, I had to scrub out here coop and empty it of any shavings since the big move is tomorrow. She went into her nest box to lay her egg this morning, and she was NOT happy when she found that it was full of towels instead of shavings. She stood in her coop hollering like crazy for an hour before she finally laid her egg in the towels. She's also upset because I haven't had much time to take her out today.

I'm curious how she's going to do with the 2 hour car ride tomorrow. The only time she has ever been in a moving vehicle was when she was shipped here from Meyer Hatchery. She'll be riding in my lap the whole way, so I'm sure that will help comfort her a bit.

I hope Sunni will be ok!

I'm waiting for a nice day to bring Finn outside. When we got the diaper, we got a leash holder too, so one day when it is in the 30's I am planning on bringing him outside. The only time he has been outside is when we found him, and that was when he was 2 weeks old.

Anyway, we might move to Arizona in June. If Rooster Cogburn doesn't come back before then, I'm gonna let Finn outside. I'm planning on getting 4 hens for myself, and if all works out, Finn would spend some days outside and the night inside. It would be a nice break from his diaper.

Alrighty, I figured out how to get pictures from my phone onto the computer. Prepare for baby chicken pictures!

This picture is a few years old. Our neighbors always had chickens that would come over to our yard. There were 5 of them: two roos and three hens. This is one of my first times being with a chicken. They would always come up to our house and sit on the porch swing, staring in the window! In the back, you can see two white hens. One of them was my favorite. I picked her up a few times and I loved it. Of course, a few days later she had a limp (hopefully not from me). She was walking back home when all of a sudden, she fell. Face first onto the ground. I was so upset I was crying. My mom called the neighbors and they came over and picked her up. That was the last time we saw the gang. Now of course Rooster Cogburn has been coming over, but he went back home. (this wasn't exactly a baby chick pic, but oh well)

Im giggling because I can just hear Sunni yellin up a storm...where'd you put my nest you silly human?? My crazy Lucy goes on rants like that. Making room service requests etc. I swear she is chicken Ghandi some days talking to me.... Today I witnissed Russell making Daisy a nest in their crate for her to lay her egg. Then he stood guard while she sat and laid her sweet little egg. Hedoesn't want me to go get it either! Today Marilyn stood on my leg but needed help with balance. She didn't mind where she was standing, but loved snuggling with me more than the actual physical therapy. I made her stand in my hand too. She seems to be holding her own with eating and drinking. Loves her little nest in the livingroom so she is in the middle of everything and nice and warm. Thats the updates from my nuthouse :celebrate
