Pet Mouse Thread!

Get 2 - they need a friend to be happy and 2 don't really take much more space/time/expense than 1. They're easy to train - those videos above are basic and they learn them relatively quick (but the only videos I have) - but they can do quite a bit more. Great pets even without training - they're very dog/cat like in that they like lounging and getting pet (and treats and games, etc) - short life span so no long term commitment (but it's a bit sad sometimes...)

Good to know - thanks! Hmm ... now for an excuse to get some!

Would love a pair of rats but there are a ton of gerbils in the rescue center so I might get them instead. My two roborovski hamsters passed away a few months ago and I still have the ikea detolf. Always so sad when you lose a pet :[

Roborovskis are so cute! Yes, it's very sad when a pet dies. It's too bad that rodents have short life spans.

Gerbils are cool, too. There's no rescue center for rodents where I live, so I choose from the pet store's selection. Except, Thomas was from our van, but the hamster came from the pet store. If there was a rescue for rodents around here, I would get one from there instead.

Yup I have had hamsters from pet shops too, I've had hamsters since I was five :p Of course I know a lot more now, I try to recreate the natural enviroment as much as I can. But yeah I understand you can't always adopt. Robo's are so cute when they role in their sand ^_^

I need a robo, too! I forgot about them! I should focus on one thing at a time, though.

Hmm ... the best things come in twos, uh? I like it that way - if I can get animals in pairs, that means I can have more?! Right?
Thanks, I will keep in mind that you know about hamsters; I may need some of that knowledge if I can find an excuse to get more animals ...

Two or four is best or they are more likely to fight, females get on better than guys, also you'll need a bigger cage for four. If you have the space an ikea detolf is great :] You never need an excuse for more hamsters :p

Hmm ... two or four females ... now let's see where the cage would fit ... that's going to take a little bit of thinking! I have a few cages in the attic, but I don't know where any of them would go, except the tiny one that should only be used as a travel cage. I think I will need a good excuse to get more, but I'm sure I can find a practical use for them, like "I need to not be wasteful with those hamster cages in the attic; they must be used!"
