Any thoughts on this? Individual pens are 4' x 12'.

You could keep a trio in each pen. Nice looking pens. Only thing I would change is the amount of sheltered area you have available for them to get out of the weather, sun, rain, wind, etc.
You could just cover the whole top with corregated sheet metal.

What's the dimensions of the wire?

Covering the entire top was an option. I just chose poorly, apparently. I have corrugated fiberglass panels here that would keep out rain and cut maybe 30% of the light.

The wire is, I believe, 1x2 inch.
