Phobia of chickens

Hi all i am new here and i want to raise chickens but problem is i have a phobia of chickens. But i want to conquer my phobia of chickens. That's partly the reason i wanted chickens is to conquer my phobia. How do i conquer my fear. And i hope i am welcomed here.

I suggest going to your local farm store during "Chick days" and see if the baby chicks make you anxious. Raising a chicken from a chick might be just the trick to get you over your irrational fear.

You may also want to go around a friend or family member that own chickens and spend times with theirs. Light Brahmas are known as gentle giants. They are larger but are very friendly.

Do you have the same phobia with baby chicks, or just adult chickens? I would go to a feed store and see how you react to the chicks. Once you get chicks home, they are totally irresistible and by the time they grow up, I doubt you would still be scared of them. Get a nice sweet breed too, like others mentioned.

Why do you want chickens?
If you have a true phobia, and not just a fear, then you need to ask yourself whether you will be able to tend to them. Do you have someone to take care of them, if you can't?
Will your fear prevent you from carrying for them? If so, get treatment before considering getting chickens.
I'm not criticizing you, but I have a fear of rats. I'd never keep a rat as a pet, because I couldn't care for it. It would be irresponsible of me to buy one.

Just adult chickens. I used to work at rko.
