Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.
 
Hi! Welcome to BYC! Make yourself at home, and don't be afraid to ask any questions! Barred rocks are the awesome. My hen is flighty, but that is only because I did not spend a lot of time with her as a chick. I would reccomend trying to get pullets (baby girls) from the feed store, instead of straight runs (Males and females) I find that pullets are better, because they will help with your fear, as they are not roosters, and roosters can be rude at times. Do lots of research before getting chicks like, what feed do I use as babys, what feed do I give them as they are growing older, what breeds are sweetest, what do I do if I get any roosters, ect.
