I am a new goose mama and need advice. I have 2 female buff goslings 2 days old. They poop alot! I fill a small dish with moistened Mazuri starter feed 2 times a day. They have access to a chick waterer and a milk 1/2 gallon with holes on sides at different heights. I am changing pas 3x each day . I have really nice hemp plan to use in coop and premium Queens pine shavings- big and Fluffy. I haven't used hemp or pine because I read they may try to eat it causing issues. I am just concerned about them stepping in all that poop! I ordered a special tray that will fit my brooder. Plan to keep puppy pads as liner and add shavings next week. Was also concerned about pine being too aromatic for them so early on.Any advice appreciated😁

I never dealt with goslings, but still have ideas, and opinions.
Not sure about the water depth for them to drink, but it may be similar to that like for ducks. Quite deep compared to chicken waterers.

Now to the bedding question. I do understand you don't want them eating it. Possibly try using sand, or Kitty litter. Then scoop out the gumdrops with a kitty litter scooper.

I also not familiar with hemp, except know it can be rolled in ZigZag papers. :frow:confused:

I use pine shavings, if it’s aromatic it probably has oils in it and may not have been thoroughly cured. Cedar shavings are very strong smelling and can cause a lot of problems.
Overall I haven’t had issues with pine shavings, if they try eating it you can always take it away again but it’s worth a try. Most of the time they will try it but then decide it’s yucky and won’t bother trying to eat it again.

I have no experience with hemp sadly.
