"Plain' galvanized hardware cloth versus vinyl-coated

Has the wire worked out for you?

I can't seem to find anything larger than 2'x5' at the hardware stores with pvc coated welded wire:

The stuff at home depot is 19 Gauge, while the website at wadavidson has that and lower gauges.

Are lower gauges stronger?

Edit: found another site that sells it in all sorts of sizes and gauges:

edit 2: ok, according to wiki, it looks like the smaller the number the stronger it should be.

With wire gauges, the smaller the number, the thicker the wire.

The larger the number, the thinner the wire.

So, for strong fencing, the smaller number in gauge is what you want.

This is the wire I use:

It is galvanized after weld under the pvc coating. This kind of wire is used to make crab traps and things of that nature.

We'll see how it lasts...I've only had it in service since this summer.

Vinyl coated wire is normally more expensive than the uncoated stuff; I'd double check the gauge of the underlying wire to make sure you're comparing apples to apples. If it's cheaper, I'd suspect the wire is actually a higher gauge or even that the stuff is all plastic.
So how did this wire work out for you
