Please help! Do I need to put coconut oil on pip?

Humidity at 70% but it's still looking dry. Should I take him out of the incubator and lather his naval up with triple antibiotic ointment?

He's been walking around since a little while after hatching. I believe his leg was hurt during hatching. I'm so afraid of doing much to him because of the naval. I need to get the dried membrane off of him. I thought he had a tiny bit of scissor beak, but I believe it was just the way he was holding his beak in that moment. I don't see a scissored beak now.

Can you set up a separate brooder for him with just a heat lamp as the heat source and maybe puppy pads or a clean towel as bedding? He'll do better in a brooder where he can start eating and drinking than in there I think. What is that white on his back? How long has it been since he hatched?

The place in the fat end of the egg is the hole that I made to check on him. I am just so incredibly impressed with this chicks will to survive.

Yes I can do that. He hatched yesterday morning. I'm assuming around 6:30am because I was in the incubator room checking on him at 6:40am and the egg was just letting go and he was wet and not walking yet. The white on him is dried membrane I believe. I've been so afraid to try to do much to him because I know there's a lot of risk with his naval being like this. I believe he was shrink wrapped maybe.

The chick was so cooperative last night when I was putting the vet wrap on his legs for a hobble (?). He was even better when I had to lay him on his back to remove it. I'd hate to hurt him (even if it was an accident) at this point. He's already over came so much

Ok. So his navel should heal up soon. He'll do good in a brooder if you can set one up for him. I think he probably was shrink-wrapped too.

Aw. His legs look good now. I think they'll strengthen in the next couple days.

I think I'm going to keep him in the house for now. I'll use the 250watt bulb in the heat lamp since it's so cool in there. Should I add some vitamins and electrolytes in some water for him? I think I'll grind up some of the crumbles just so he'll have choices in what size food is best for him. I'm so anxious to see how he does. Do I need to slather on the triple antibiotic ointment on his naval? Should I cover it with anything?

So just keep an eye on the Splay and don't treat unless it gets worse? Obviously he was malpositioned in the egg, but I feel like his leg was injured during hatch or it's just from however he was positioned in the shell.
