Hi,
My hen was attack by 3 other hens. I have her inside house, sitting next to me so I can monitor her shock. I brought her in around 12:30 PM today her comb is very bloody as well as area around eyes and wattles. Wrapped in warm blanket and cleaned wounds. Then she closed her eyes for a few hours. Woke up gave electrolytes and labored breathing started. We were breathing has been on and off for the past few hours. I have read that shock can last from a few hours to a few days. Just wondering if there’s anything else I should be doing for her? She is clearly not going back out in the grouWrapped in warm blanket and cleaned wounds. Then she closed her eyes for a few hours. Woke up gave electrolytes and labored breathing started. We were breathing has been on and off for the past few hours. I have read that shock can last from a few hours to a few days. Just wondering if there’s anything else I should be doing for her? She is clearly not going back out in the coop. Very worried about her. Possible internal injuries? I didn’t see the fight, heard about it second hand. Any advice is much appreciated- thank you!

Other than treating the wounds with something like Vetericyn it sounds like you are doing what you can for shock. What is her energy like? Does she have wounds elsewhere on her body?

Sugar water. Warmed. Give for the next 24 hours. If you have Poultry Nutri-drench, put some into the sugar water. One teaspoon of sugar to a cup of water.

She has bruising near abdomen. Very lethargic & panting - but more like respiratory distress not because she’s hot

I'm sorry I don't know what to do about bruising or possible internal injuries. I hope she pulls through. Keep us updated please.

Did she have labored breathing before you gave electrolytes? How did you administer them?
I would try holding a cup up to her beak and see if she will drink on her own. If you do have to syringe fluids into her, then read the article below and study the photos.
She may have aspirated fluids?

She has bruising near her abdomen - you see green or bluish colored skin or she's bloated? How do you know she has bruising? IF she's bloated, what does it feel like...air under the skin or fluid??
