Please help, I have just spent about 15 minutes cutting off feathers covered in eggs from lice and parasites on our chicken. She is really badly covered from catching them from a rescue chicken
What do I do???? Going to the vets is not an option and DE power is not working
Can anyone recommend a really strong medicine or anything that will kill them all
I need to get rid of them as we have already lost 2 other birds due to infestation

I am battling the same thing and it has been hard because we are just coming off winter. I had one older hen that was not taking proper care of herself. She was the worst. I soaked her in a tub of warm water with dawn dish soap. You can also use a bit of dog/cat flea shampoo.

It does not seem like all of my chickens have them or at least not to that degree.

I have used a spray on them and also Permethrin dust. You have yo work the dust in down to the skin which is tough due to the feathers.

Clean out the whole coop. Spray and dust it. Make sure to clean up shed feathers.

My run has a dirt floor so after the clean up I sprinkled the permethrin powder and raked it in. I did a double dose in their dust bath area.

Also, lice are just annoying but shouldn't kill your chickens as they do not bite them or suck their blood. Mites on the other hand can weaken them.

Thank you! We have just got two more and they are both covered aswell ://
Will be doing some wide-scale decontamination

Get Permethrin 10 concentrate from TSC or your feed store. Mix it with water in a spray bottle according to the inside label for poultry lice/mites. A pint will make many gallons and upyou can spray each chicken with 1/2 ounce, and use it also to treat your coop once the old bedding is removed. Spray the chickens again in 10 days, to get the newly hatched ones before they multiply, and the spray lasts about 30 days in the coop. Lice hatch every 10 days, so check them at intervals to make sure there are no live lice on the chickens. Permethrin garden dust is also available for cold weather when birds should not be sprayed.

DE doesn't work.
Get this and spray everyone and every every week or twice a week for a few weeks.

Get yourself some python dust at a tractor supply. There is also chicken/garden dust that works too. It kills (paralyzes) the lice immediately.
I just skimmed OP's other posts... I believe they might be in the UK, Which means they don't have the same products available as we do in the United States.

Just realized this :( at this point, any product with permethrin should work if available
