Please share your experiences with salpingitis/lash eggs and any possible advice.

They can go up and down in their presentation with this sort of thing. If you can get an implant for her ASAP, and then do you have access to amoxyclav antibiotics? That’s what is the go-to in my country.

Focus on nutrition and hydration. My girl Constance got so sick I had to tube feed her until we could get the proper treatment going for her. You could also consider giving your girl 600mg calcium citrate daily to help her pass any stuck material.
I called a vet that has treated some of my hens that has done surgery on a hen with lash egg material before. She said to send a fecal away first and to try my local vets to save me driving the whole way down with just a fecal sample.

This hen has already gotten amoxicillin on two occasions for 7 days each. I find it works wonders for past hens thatbhave had eyp butbin this occasion It had no effect.

She's also had 12 days of metrobactin also no effect.

Hopefully I can get some results on this facal and get the ball rolling and get her implanted.

She had some yogurt for me this morning. I just have to try nurse her along until I can get something done for her

This is the stool sample I collected this morning. This is so mucousy that I could grab it with my fingers to put into the tub. I had treated her for cocci previously as she had blood In her poop a couple of weeks back. I wonder if its back? I read that mucous in the poop could be an indicator of cocci

Potentially. They can check for an overgrowth of coccidia in the fecal sample as well.

So I dropped off a sample to the lab last night to check for parasites which would include cocci and for a baterial culture to be done aswell. Hopefully the results will shed some light and hopefully it will be something treatable. I was with a new vet today with a different hen with an impacted crop he seems to know his stuff. But he's sooo expensive but he might be the right guy to go to with the results of this fecal. He's a big believer in testing before guessing and I think if a fecal or some test were done by the other vet 2 months ago I wouldn't be here still trying to get treatment for my hen

*** Update *** Little squibley passed away about 3 weeks ago. No worms, no cocci just a very resistant strain of ecoli causing salpingitis. She was wrongly diagnosed by a vet as having kidney failure all those months ago because she wasn't responding to antibiotic just turns out it was resistant to all 3 types of antibiotic that she was given. Finally we started her on ceftiofur and she responded only problem was the vet that sent away the sample wasn't an avian vet and was unsure of the dose and duration and by the 5th day she was eating again, dust bathing and acting like a normal little chicken but the vet decided 5 days was long enough and she relapsed a couple days later. By the time she was put back on ceftiofur the good was gone out of it and the bacteria may have built some resistance to it and she didn't improve on it again. I talked to an avian vet asking about trying gentamicin buy he advised it would probably kill her. The local vet gave her some marbofloxin with the ceftiofur warning it could kill her and she dies that night. A lot of lessons were learned the hard way with this hen. I should not have allowed myself to be talked out of having a culture and sensativity. Be mindful that to some vets it's only a chicken buy she was my favourite and I shouldn't have allowed then to dismiss her. The little white beans were indeed lash material. It doesn't always look the same as in the pictures of the large masses sometimes it's lots of little bean looking bits. A lot of stupid mistakes were made and I feel terribly guilty but its easy to look back and see what i should have dine sooner but i was clueless at the time. I'm absolutely heartbroken 💔 she was the sweetest little thing and things just arnt the same. She was definatly a once in a lifetime hen.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Do not blame yourself though. You've done above and beyond. More importantly, she was loved and she loved you.

Time will heal. ❤️
