Poor man's electric fence - Mouse Traps!

What an excellent idea! I love it. The best I've heard in a long time.

When you have time to put new wire on the coop I would just cover what you have with hardware cloth. It is easy to cut if you have sharp wire cutters and you can screw it right into the wood. I hope I can explain this but I put the hardware cloth on and then used a washer and a screw to hold the hardware cloth on. The washer just covers more of the area you are trying to screw down.

I think I just gave myself a headache!

Good luck

For less than $40.00 you can set up a an electric fence a few inches off the ground.

Lowes
Energizer 16.00 coversup to 10 acres
Yellow nylon/electric wire 18.00 -- lot of feet left .
4 plastic step in fence post @ around 2.00 each.

It will even help to protect and contain the chickens when free ranging.

Cats only try to cross the fence once.

Personally the best insurance is to lock up tight each nigh witth a door.

I like the mousetraps though!!!!!!!!

No traps were sprung last night. Maybe my visitors learned their lesson two nights ago. I'll keep setting them though.

I also have an electric wire around the run, since i used chicken wire, Im now reading about a mouse trap that can be attached to the electric wire and zapps them!!
