Poplar woodchips

I have just been delivered a load of poplar tree woodchip. Though classed as a harfwood it has a lot of poplar leaves in it. Are the leaves ok for my silkies please
 
I believe there are quite a few who use wood chips and mulch whith little ill effect, although some concerns are: cedar and some woods have been known to trigger RIs in chickens and therefore bad. If the chips have not been dried/kilned you run risk of decomposition, unknown organisms, and possible mold due to moisture, there has also been talk of splinters causing bumble foot, I advise searching past threads on the topic to find out others experience and success

Ok will do. I have used polar chippings before but not with leaves in and this hasnt been a problem. Its the amount of leaves as this load has come straight from a guy who fells trees for a living
