Possible EE Rooster in the Group

Hi,

I have four EE roos. Only one of them crows and they are now 18 weeks old. One of them didn't develop saddle feathers until about 14 weeks. Do you have a better picture of the back of this potential rooster? I would hold off getting rid of "him" until he crows or develops saddle feathers. The comb on yours is much lighter than mine, but still a bit dark for a hen.

Here's mine that looks kind of like yours...he is a rooster.

I had an EE rooster who waited until he was four months old to declare himself. He did a good imitation of a pullet for a long time, but then I realized that his legs had become much thicker than his sister's, he was getting taller and huskier, and his comb had decided to grow like crazy. These EE can be a little tricky!

Keep an eye out for new shiny sharp-ended saddle feathers poking out through the other feathers. That has always been the final rooster telltale for me, before they start crowing. So long as I don't see those, I keep hoping.

Okay, so here is a picture I took of the bird on Friday. It's a bit more updated than the original one I posted. Based on some additional research, comments in this thread, and admitting I can face reality, I believe that this is a rooster!

Compared to the other birds, it is much bigger, and the legs are significantly thicker than the rest. I understand that the breed is somewhat of a 'mutt', and therefore fairly random in what they look like, so it is only a matter of time before he'll crow.

Thanks for all the feedback, and should this one end up laying an egg or crowing, I'll post a follow up to the thread, in case anyone has money on this

Better pic thanks! And yes, there's no chance that's a hen. It's a boy! =)
