Hi all! How do I get my hens back to happy after an attack that took 2 of the 4 from the flock?

How and where and when were they attacked/killed?

Sorry for your loss. Could you provide some details? Are they in a predator proof coop overnight? Do you have a secure covered chicken run?

They are in a predator proof coop at night. During the day when they were attacked, they were inside their run and my dogs breached the run. When I walked away for a few minutes. 100 percent my stupid mistake.
One was killed, one escaped and has not returned…she is nesting in a tree across the road and 2 are left.

Is the one in the tree too high to retrieve tonight? If so, be out there before daylight in the morning with food and water, and keep the dogs away until you catch her. So sorry for your loss. I hope the others are okay.

Thank you for your kindness. Yes she is too high in the tree to reach. I have placed food and water in a dog crate covered with a towel. And with a light inside (hoping in would get her to come in tonight).

I couldn’t coax her back this morning, she was evasive. However, she made her way home this evening ON HER OWN TERMS!!

I would keep them in the run for a few days then let them decide if they want to venture out. They are flock animals so try to replace the ones you lost. Don't feel bad when you have dogs sometimes it happens.
