It seems like a daily complaint but folks, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, panthers, bears, eagles, hawks, and coons have been eating chickens since they got off the ark. This list is not exhaustive either, I just listed the ones I deal with on a regular basis.
Raising hens and broilers in the dark heart of Florida predators used to think I was Colonel Sanders. We have since come to an "understanding". It takes a major commitment to get ahead of the problem. "Easy, simple and fun" are not part of it. Most threads I see advocating backyard chickens underemphasize the predator problem.
Once you accept reality stuff does get simple, but not easy and usually not fun. First reality check: Do you realize that human beings are the top predator? Superior intellect, opposing thumb, no animal comes close. Humans always win, stop whining start winning, but always deal gently with our wild adversary.
