Great information! Thanks!
I haven't ordered any chicks lately, and am not living through this problem, but after reading a lot of these posts, I got to thinking about my Cuckoo Marans eggs I got to hatch last year.
I got them from a breeder, put 36 in the incubator, hatched 29.
Well, they started dying, just fine one day, listless the next, and dead the next day. I had them in a brooder with 2 other breeds, and they were not affected at all. I have one Cuckoo Marans pullet left of the 29 I hatched. She is alive and very healthy. She is about to start laying. I wonder if those chicks were infected with AE from their mothers?
I plan to watch for the final results you get. I know this is hard on you, but your posts are really informative and will come in handy for future reference.
Thanks again,
Jean
