i have a issue with a buff Orpington the rest of the flock which is a Rhode Island Red, barred rock, and a black sex link are perfect angels except the buff Orpington was a issue since the day I got her which was yesterday. She has what I think is a premature yolk which isn’t a big deal now except she has been chirping non stop while the rest of them are chillin and happy the temp is the best I can get it and everyone is eating and drinking and happy except the buff Orpington has been a big bully and non stop chirping. Yesterday I was putting my hand around her and she would sleep and stop chirping but today I try to do the same and she runs away from me and continues to chirp, she is also sleeping away from the flock is she in pain and thinks she’s gonna die? The yolk sac and is pretty small and Ive been cleaning and putting aquaphor on it. And I’ve seen people say wood chips is causing the issue but I’ve been watching them all day and they were kept in a wood shavings enclosure and she dosent eat any wood shavings I truly don’t think it’s the issue.

does it have pasty butt? Maybe you’re mistaking a premature yolk for pasty butt ?
I thought it was a dry poop as well and removed it with oil and warm water but it was a dried scab and under was bright red now it’s yellow again, I tried to push it back in since I thought it was relapsed vent but it wouldn’t go in, and the placement is the same as other videos I’ve seen of premature yolk.

Hmm idk what else to tell ya, I’m a very new chicken lady, I was just trying to throw an idea out there to maybe help! I’d do probiotics and electrolytes😬😍
I would say the more seasoned chicken people are gonna want to see a picture. So maybe start there? Good luck!!🐥❤️

Thank you I’ve gave them some honey and sea salt but I’ll order some probiotics for her thank you for the help god bless you

They sell the packets right at tractor supply, I’m sure other feed stores also have them. If your close to any ◡̈ your welcome! God bless you and your chicks🐥✝️
One more thought, some people use feather dusters to mimic momma hen. Idk if it actually helps. Or maybe just something soft and cozy? My BO was older but he would always escape the brooder and lay on my son’s jacket. Then later the laundry basket, lol Tree is
His name, he’s always been very adventurous!

I'm tagging some people with more experience than I have. @Eggcessive @casportpony @azygous @Wyorp Rock

You may not get a response until tomorrow, but do get pictures of the area in question so when they see the thread they'll be able to give you better advice.

I would also try using something softer for them (esp the BO chick) to lay on . ..if the area is sore/exposed the chips maybe aggravating the area and causing discomfort.

Has the BO chick been eating/drinking/pooping normally? If not she may also be chirping because she hungry/thirsty on top of not feeling well.

She has been chirping loudly and eating and drinking like nothing is happening it’s really strange I’m starting to think it’s just normal behavior since she is young but I’ve heard buff Orpingtons are chill but she’s the most aggressive of them all. I will definitely take them off the shaving and on paper towels since I don’t have anything softer, thank you for tagging people i don’t want to lose her for something that can be prevented. :) btw the wetness is aquaphor and yesterday there were no fuzz on her butt at all she was pulling it all off but now she has hair and isnt touching the area really so i think its healing?
