Black box needs to be mounted outside! Very surprised they recommended the door to be mounted like that for just the reason you experienced. A small overhang to cover the box from direct weather or some other cover would have done the trick.You were given bad advice.....very sorry your losses.

Does anyone know how to close the door manually? The wire from the battery to the motor melted and now the door will not close. I've contacted the company, but with it being a holiday weekend I'm not sure I'll get anyone. I just need to get it closed.
On a side note, I've had the door for about 8 months and love it!
