  1. (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes! While I don’t technically own any, I am currently caring for a flock at school and will be until spring of 2026.

(2) How many chickens do you have and what breeds are they?

Currently, my school has 5 hens of 4 different breeds.
  • Buff Brahma - Nugget
  • Red Lace Wyandotte - Lacy & Lucy
  • Black Sex Linked - Jaws
  • Midnight Majesty Maran(?) - Queenie

(3) What are some of your other hobbies?

I enjoy tying fly fishing lures, collecting rocks, and making jewelry, among other things.

(4) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I’m currently attending the School of Environmental Sciences for High-school. Currently, other than chickens, we are keeping tilapia, rabbits, degus, chinchillas, snakes, guinea pigs, a dove, a ferret, and numerous other animals.

The School of Environmental Sciences sounds like an incredible place -- an opportunity to spend time with and learn about all those animals would be the greatest! It probably makes up for any dull lectures or uninspiring texts you have to endure :)

Are the hens laying yet? If so, I would guess Queenie's eggs are the favorites because of their deep, rich shell color.

Welcome to BYC; I hope you can learn a few things here -- and you might educate us on some topics, too!!
