Project: Crested EE

I'm gona miss the flock I sold off. But to many irons in the fire and I had enough birds for two pens of 14 for this project. I agonized over selling them for a long long time and just kept trying to justify keeping them but cost in feed has made its self known.

I'll update with pictures of the new members of this project and they will be moved into the pen the black and lavender flock was in. My three silver Spitzhauben will remain with the Phoenix Longtailed EE flock for now.

1 Gold Spangled Spitzhauben rooster 1
2 Gold Spangled Spitzhauben Hens x 2
3 Chamois Spangled Spitzhauben Hens x 3
4 F1 Blue Crested EE Hen 1
5 Black Ameraucana Hen 1

For the Ameraucana I'll have to see how many blues I have right now. I think its 5 to 6. Will need to split them between the Crested project and the Longtail Project. A few Silver Ameraucana will be added as well. Shooting for 4 or 5 Ameraucana in this project.

Im sad you sold the lavenders as that’s my favorite color but I’m sure all the ones you kept will propel you more quickly towards your goal!

Me too on lavender but the others are what I originally wanted to do. I may eventually have bantam lavender Ameraucanas or OEGB. The lavender quail is very pretty.

Set eight eggs from the project flock I just sold. All are blue green and from the black Ameraucanas as they lay the biggest eggs in the pen. They should be pure black. If they have the lavender test available any females I get Ill have tested seance the pen is going to blue.

I used The Silkie Lab for a lavender test recently and was very happy with it. The price was cheaper than others I had seen and she got the results back to me very quickly.

I still need to do the blue egg gen test on Oliver. Does the silkie lab do that as well?

The eggs I put in for incubation are probably large. The biggest eggs I get from the flock. I hope I get some crested out of it that lay large eggs. Also If they are crested I'll know they don't have lavender as the male with them was black Crevecoeur.

She does have a blue egg test that was in development and I believe it is now available! I am planning on getting that done from her in the future.
@TheSilkieLab correct me if I’m wrong! If she sees this message, I am also wondering if the blue egg test differentiates between one copy of the blue egg gene or two copies. I know the lavender color test does but I’m not sure if it’s possible with the egg color test.
