Came out to check on chicks this evening (check twice a day) and noticed the vent on this chick. Suggestions? It was fine this morning.

How old are the other chickens with the chick? It looks like she has been pecked and bloodied. She may have suffered a prolapse first and then they did this to her. How old is she? I would separate her with food and water. Clean her vent with warm water or saline, or spray with a wound spray. Then dry her, and apply some plain triple antibiotic ointment or vaseline twice a day. Do not let the prolapse dry out. It should go back in on it’s own in time.

They are all 3 weeks old. They are in brooder with 3 week old brahmas. Thank you so much for the advice! I will definitely do that. How long do you recommend keeping her separated?
