Puffy eyes and bubbles

Is she keeping her eye closed?

I want to add that for my rooster, I waited a couple days before taking him to the vet, and he he subsequently got a very bad secondary infection that is still not healed. For my hens I immediately gave them terramycin for a couple days and they are fine. Pic of my rooster on day 1 (I regret not having terramycin on hand):

I don't mean to scare you, but I do think the terramycin is extremely helpful for eye issues and preventing a bacterial infection. I highly recommend getting it, it requires a prescription from a vet but this website sells it for pigeons without a prescription.

No, her eye is open. She has some swelling of the upper eyelid in one of her eyes.

EDIT: I just ordered some terramycin. I will be keeping a close eye on her. I do have a vet that will do "telehealth" appointments (they are not currently seeing chickens in the office due to bird flu), and if she worsens I will definitely reach out.

Ok, my chickens' situation sounds much worse than yours but I think it is still be good to have on hand. Good luck and I hope she gets better quickly!

Okay, so my chick still has a bit of swelling in her eyelid and looks a little pale. Appetite/activity level/movement are all normal/healthy.

I've ordered the medications, but the fastest shipping only gets them here by next Monday. :(

What can I do to support a chick with possible MG or some other upper respiratory stuff until the medications arrive? It's been alternating being really hot/humid with rainy spells, which I don't think is helping!

Can you post any pictures of the eye? Rinse the eye with saline or an eye wash twice a day. I have used Bausch and Lomb Eye Relief Eye Wash for about $4, and feed stores carry the Vetericyn eye gel and eye wash. Do you have a good relationship with your vet? They might sell you some Terramycin or Erythromycin eye ointment. I would also get Tylosin powder for the water and treat for 5 days. Jedds.com sells that as well.

I'll go by the feed store tomorrow to get some eye wash and order the powder.

I would do the telehealth visit with your vet since that is an option for you. It will allow you to get high-quality medication faster, if that's what's necessary. Eye swelling can happen from many different illnesses and can be an indicator of health issues. If she doesn't have any respiratory symptoms and is acting normal otherwise that is a good sign, though things of course can change.

In the meantime, for keeping spirits up I like to provide a bowl with raw egg yolk (or yolks depending on # of chickens), scoops of plain yogurt (no sugar or anything), a couple sprigs of fresh oregano, maybe a couple blueberries and grapes. I am careful of quantities to avoid diarrhea. Also chilled watermelon right now since it's hot, and apples.

This is the only eye wash I was able to find (between two different farm stores and one grocery store!).

I flushed the pullet's eyes out twice (naturally she treated this like an attempted murder).

Any opinions on if using the gel that came with the kit would be a good idea? Bad idea? Maybe-won't-help-but-no-harm-trying?
