New to chicks- not sure how to sex, what do you think (and why if time so I learn something in addition to learning their sex.)

I have 6 - five week old Araucanas from feed store (Mount Healthy Hatchery) that were bought as sexed day old pullets. These don't meet bred standard but are lovely Easter Eggers (or hopefully when they lay they are EEs.)

These are part of a lot of 12 I'm splitting with my brother and as I live in the city I can't have roos. These are the 3 EEs I'm thinking of keeping unless consensus says that one is most likely a cockerel.

  • EE#2 (this one has a tall comb with distinct nubs unlike the other 5 EEs I have, but yellow)

EE#2

EE#2

  • EE#3 (this one and another like it that started with chipmunk patterns is feisty, also not the cheeks, this is the only one of the 6 that looks like it has ear tuffs, beard, or cheek tuffs. None of the 6 without tail feathers. Not EE#2 below with the nubby single row tall comb, bigger than my BRs.)

EE#3 (w/ EE#2 behind and in the back another EE that had similair "chipmunk" chick patterns, that is the only one I suspect might be a roo, but I don't know much. It has redder comb and sharper feather near neck, and is super feisty.)

Thanks for looking!!!!!!!

I'm not good at this, fairly new. Here's my guess:

1. Pullet
2. I don't think this is an EE. It has yellow legs. But, it looks like a pullet.
3. ? I can't tell much from the pics, but it has coloring that makes me think roo.

Pullet.
Probable roo and I also don't think it's an ee. Although the first bird has a straight comb also?
I'm thinking pullet but not 100% sure. Legs are thick and color could turn rooish.

1. Probably pullet.
2. Probably roo and definite EE--I have a few cockerels that looked like that. (Yellow legs just mean pink or brown eggs rather than blue or green.) I'm looking at the upright stance, the fact that the comb stands up so far from the head (is it a pea or single??), and the splotchy coloring with patches of red in among other colors.
3. Possible pullet, but watch out for that red coming in on the shoulders.

Also, the one in the last pic in the back with the red comb is definitely a roo.

This is a fairly difficult bunch! Keep us updated.

Kept EE#1 and EE#3 as part of our backyard flock of 8 pullets. EE#2 and the other one in the background of the last photo, along with 5 others went up to my brothers farm today. Once they lay an egg or crow I'll update with a photo and how it turned out.

Thanks

The 1st one is at my house and is HUGE for EE at ~8.5lbs, she lays ~3 extra Jumbo eggs that are a pretty green each week, has not had 1st molt yet.

She is named Wild Duck (by my 3 year old.) As another bird is named Ducky she likes the confusion so much she gave this one the middle name ducky so the hen is Wild-Duck Ducky W.

Sadly, #2 went to my brothers farm and was lost to coyote, and #3 I lost to Mareks at 19-20 weeks.
