Perfect example to others though. Males are lighter and have wider white barring and females tend to have darker barring. Has something out of the ordinary happened before? Yes, I have seen males with darker barring as well, but in general, its a genetic thing.
You have a Pair. A pullet, & a cockerel.They were bought as pullets are they pullets? 5 weeks old now, both barred rock pullets.
