Purebreed?

My mother wants an RIR rooster. This one is close to us, can you tell if he is purebred?

He's a production strain of Rhode Island Red and he looks nice and healthy. He is not the type of Rhode Island Red that is in the Standard of Perfection and can be shown at county fairs and other competitions. So it depends on what you mean by purebred and what you want to do with him. He's a good utility RIR but not a show bird.

Totally agree.
It is not a good rooster for exhibition or for breeding or stallion of the breed.
But that may have little importance for those who do not intend to present their roosters and chickens in exhibitions and competitions, for those who do not intend to sell their roosters and chickens as purebred breeders.
It may even be better to have the qualities and the hybrid vigor of miscegenation.
