Putting younger chicks in the coop with older ones

Why?

This is the setup I have for the chicks inside my coop/shed. I think it is good, but maybe I need to raise it up so it is off the floor. Or is it ok as is? As you can see, the big girls like to get on top of it, so I put plywood on the top.

That's perfectly fine.

It's great that you have a coop large enough to put the crate in. Extra space like that gives you flexibility.
