She came from free craigslist. She is adorable and I want more or her ASAP. So calm and so friendly. Wants to be queen of the other chickens and she is too small to be in with them.

Until I find another pycheon (I have been searching) what kind of bantam chickens would be good with her? It would be great if they were small and friendly. She is the size of a small pigeon.

Thanks for any advice or help. I am trying to find the pycheon flock she came from here in LA. (People are very flakey here ... so it takes time and luck ...)

She is supposedly laying small eggs. The owners who had her said she was all alone and was lonely.

What to do?

Thank you all so much for your replies and all the love! Back at ya my chicken loving friends!

GodLovesU (such a nice name) I am in Los Angeles, CA. Specifically LA County, so that means our chicken laws are extremely friendly here.

I will be honest and say I have spent some time trying to locate pycheon eggs and birds and so far no luck. But I am relentless. I have been studying bantams. Do I want a rooster as small as her?

I found a lady who has hatched polish chicks at a reasonable price, so she would have some company in 8 weeks. And I have excellent luck at getting roosters from blind hatches. (Let's all laugh together, I am sure you all share my luck!)

I can buy her a bantam rooster, but because I am a bantam beginner I am not quite sure who I am looking for? Would the polish birds be too big or anything? She's not big.

So. That is where we are. There's bantams in Los Angeles. Who to choose? And do I bring in more hens as I am sure all roosters want a few extra wives? I plan to keep the bantams seperated from the big birds cause ... well ... she is very small.

Also, I want to say even though the pycheon has only been here for a few days ... 6 days ... she is looking much much healthier and even a bit bigger. I have been trying to feed her what she likes. Tender ends of grass I suspect really help. She gobbles those like it is her tiny little job. You guys! She is so so so so cute. I need more.

I understand

@Djones611

has some Pycheon in Oklahoma. Maybe it would be worth you two getting together? Who knows what knowledge could be shared.

Thanks so much. I just spent a good half an hour watching her and she's really so adorable. The sounds she makes are so soothing. I really would like to assist keeping her DNA afloat.

I write Djones611 and hope he has some ideas. She didn't just appear out of nowhere. She has parents here in LA somewhere!
