I think this is in the right place. My quail recently started laying again. I plan on hatching them when i get 40-50, but that might take a few days, so how do i store the ones i already have?
Thanks in advance.

I'm sure @Nabiki and others may have suggestions on this.

For me, I always collected fresh eggs, checked to make sure they didn't have any cracks, etc. Then just stored them in a cool dark place until I collected the number I wanted. Sometimes I'd turn or roll the eggs once daily (very gently), but other times I didn't. I did not see a difference in hatch rate whether I turned while storing vs. not. Usually, I didn't store for more than 4-5 days before I set them all.

When I was planning a hatch, I'd typically collect for up to a week before putting them in the incubator. I have an extra turner that I'd use to hold the eggs until I got enough. I don't know that turning them prior to incubation made any difference in hatch rate, but I had the space and figured why not?

I just saw a video yesterday on this.
According to Coturnix Corner, 50-70F is optimal. And for no more than ten days or fertility will start dropping.

He's in FL and uses a fridge set at its warmest setting.

For me, even in summer, it would mean nothing more than keeping them in the basement until I have enough.
