Hi, I have 4 Golden Pheasants..all adults..I have always fed a scratch mix that my local feed mill mixes..I recently read that I should feed them a gamebird mix..I bought a bag the other day and its crumbles..Is this what y'all feed your birds?
The pheasants aren't so crazy about it.

Yep, that's the stuff.

They'll get used to it. They'll always like the other stuff better. It's just like people food....the stuff that's good for you is never as tasty as the stuff that's not. lol

You should also be giving them fruits and veggies when you can. They like wild bird seed to.
Mix the crubles in with the scratch feed and don't give them more scratch until they eat the crumbles.
I feed my bird cracked corn, layer pellets and calf manor.
In N.H.,Tony.

Mine Love bananas & LOVE cucumbers. Cucumber slices & the ends cut lengthwise. & my geese LOVE the skin peels, so nothing wasted around here.

Thanks for your replies..They are still not eating the crumbles very well.
We are vegetable farmers so veggies are no problem during the season..off season I buy bags of kale, leaf lettuce, etc....for them and my chickens.

Calf Manna is available in AGWAY or TSC. It's a high protein multi breed product (horses, cattle, poultry) that you buy in a ten pound or thirty pound bag...

They feed it to horses, but can be fed to birds. It has a higher protein.I would feed gamebird and turkey maintenace pellets instead of crumbles.

Try mixing some of the new crumble with the feed that they are used to and gradually reducing the old feed with new crumble. I feed all of my fowl Purina Flock Raiser, my local Tractor Supply Co. has it. They also love small cat food bits, bread, scratch, all kinds of fruits and veggies.

Thanks tony,
Im going to check my local feed store and see if they carry it before I purchase any pheasants , what about feed them sunflower seeds do you feed it to ur pheasant ,

I feed my turkeys game feeder pellets , some crack corn , with some sunflower or black sunflower seed plus I added this winter a hand full of rabbit pellet every other day or so to there feed . plus during the spring and summer months they get fresh vegetables added to the diet from the garden .

Do you think this bland which I feeding to my turkeys with the added Calf Manor would be good for the Pheasants

Thanks Alan
