This is my first time posting, and I have the classic question. Ha!
So here is a bit of the back story. I live in Mexico, and unfortunately here as in many other countries, there are a lot of strays. Ive lived here most of my life, and have a tendency to take in pretty much any animal I come across that needs a home. I really love all animals, and animal cruelty is something that I just cannot accept or turn a blind eye towards. My house is pretty much a zoo most of the time. With an ever expanding family and a rotating cast of fosters/rescues. Anyway- Last month on Aug 6th, I was walking into my local grocery store when I saw a man standing by the sliding doors holding what I thought was a chicken in his hands. Its pretty common to see people trying to find homes for puppies or kittens outside of the super market but I'd never seen a guy trying to sell a chicken. They are running around everywhere here, so I was a bit confused and tried to ignore the situation and went about my shopping. As I was exiting the store I noticed the man was still there, with the "chicken" in his hand. I tried to talk myself down and keep walking but out of the corner of my eye I was one of the little chicks leg's poking through the man's hand. It was shaking, poor guy was terrified, and I knew I couldn't walk away. I went up to the man, and offered him $100 Pesos for the bird (about 7 or 8 USD), he accepted and quickly handed me the bird and walked off. So I soon came to realize I had not acquired a chick but a peachick. BYC, has helped with most of my initial questions so a big thank you for that! I don't know how old Jasper (my peachick) was when we found each other, but Ive attached some pictures of him/her from the day we met. Jasper immediately became very attached to me, and follows me everywhere I go, jumps/flies to perch on my head or counter or tree closest to whatever I'm doing. Its been really awesome getting to watch him/her grow over the last month, all my other animals don't know what to make of him/her yet. I'm not sure what breed he is, or how old, or what gender so any guesses or info would be much appreciated!
