For me, this question...
"Can you travel to a new place without GPS?"
should be where I would post in the the thread "I am too old, I remember"

I do not use a GPS, I use my old refidex - a big book of map/street. When I travel interstate, I use actual paper map.

Many years ago, I was given a GPS for my birthday, I did not use it as I thought I am getting older, and I need to use my brain more or it will die off

When I travel locally and the area is not in my old refidex, I google map, write down the direction and follow my note there.

I want a paper atlas and a map if I'm going distances! But can't find them any more. GPS is HORRIBLE and routes you through neighborhoods and cornfields instead of interstates, I HATE it! It's fairly good for finding a restaurant in a strange town but that's about it. GPS has routed a ginormous Winnebago and a school bus off state highways into our dead-end road for no discernible reason. The Winnebago, driven by a couple of octogenarians, was actually damaged a bit by the time they got turned around out of our yard. It makes me furious!
