My Grandfather use to do the odd maintenance jobs in a Catholic nunnery. He would have to whistle a tune the whole time he was working so that the nuns would know where he was.
We also have a family tradition that the person carving the meat, before a dinner, has to whistle so that the rest of the family knows that person is not eating the choice bits of meat while carving the carvery.
