Do you mean a crank handle like on an oldtimers from before the II WW ?
If so.., no I never used a crank handle to start a car.

Me, no. My uncle had an old crank start when he was young. This would have been in the early 1940s.

I was thrown in the deep end with the Crankhandle Club. My first outing was in a 1911 Ford Model T, on an eight day adventure, starting with a tour of the Cape Peninsula (Cape Town), then straight into a two day drive to George, directly followed by a five day back road tour along the Garden Route and over passes into the Karoo. After that I was an expert at cranking that handle!
