Question of the Day - Sunday, March 30th, 2025

I don't really hate the random dogs that wonder back to our property. I do hate people that let them roam and do not take proper care of them.

I love to watch the wild birds. Pileated Woodpeckers and hummingbirds especially.

Last year I had the honor of watching a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers brood 2 babies. From a distance of course. I learned they both sit on the eggs and feed the babies. It seemed the female sat during the day and the male at night. I watched them trade off each morning and evening. Such a joy to see!

i don't really mind any, all are invited
Slugs, red mites and ticks too?
Last year was very wet and we had too many slugs eating from the chickens feed. Red mites are a horrir in the coop and many years ago we had ticks contaminated with Lyme disease. I got infected twice and needed too much antibiotics. Since we have chickens they vanished. :wee

Hate: slugs, red mites, unleashed dogs, mean cats that hunt chickens, cats go into the run who eat the chickens feed.

Love: wild ducks, sparrows, robins, blackbirds, great and blue tits, blackbirds, tourtereaux, woodpeckers, frogs, toads, hedgehogs, dragonflies, butterflies, earthworms, cats that hunt baby rats, cats that come to say hello .

I got many and they come at different time of the day and season.

I do not mind most of them, but I certainly 👎 the insects & pests because they eat all my green veggies, and ruin many.

Sharing is good, but those insects aren't sharing at all.

Possums
Bats
Echidna
Spiders
The whole lots of insects
Black solider flies
Flies
Bees
Ticks
Snake
Bush turkeys
Mappies, crows, cockatoos, noisy miners, kookaburra, robins

I have flies traps as they are very noisy decomposing chicken poops. I feel bad sometimes and removed the flies trap as they are helping to decompose and without flies ..... bad.. But they are annoying.

My dog was hospitalised for 3 days due to tick bite.
