If you pack a suitcase (or travel bag) what goes in first?

It's been so long since I packed a suitcase, but I think I'd probably pack pants first.

I don't use a suitcase. I have two bags and whatever ends up in there ends up in there.

I pack by day and person……so a stack of outfits goes in first

Usually pajamas. Which actually doesn't make sense because that's the first thing you need to pull out. You are already dressed and the next outfit you put on will be your pj's

My dresses are currently packed at the bottom of my suitcase.

I used to travel a lot for a former job as a hired tech gun so I had a system. Socks and underwear in the bottom, shoved into the nooks and crannies because no one would care if they were wrinkled. Then pants, then shirts, then jacket/sportcoat/hoodie/etc. on top. Shoes at one end or the other. Maximize professional-looking stuff and minimize the effort needed to keep it presentable while traveling. I hate ironing.

These days? I put more care into packing my camera bag than my clothes.

i dont know...i just throw stuff in my suitcase and then sort it out later. i normally pick out 10x too much clothing than would fit into the bag

Generally the bigger things, like jeans or sweatshirts, go in first, then I stuff the littler things wherever they fit.
