I had 5 roosters- all not planned.
One was given to us and he was good to the ladies but attacked humans so he was removed. Next one was a cockerel and he would make the combs bleed.
He went bye bye! Broody hen hatched 2 chicks  both roosters.
Got 6 pullets- another rooster. Removed one, culled the other.
Now the last cockerel is waiting death row or if he behaves he lives!
He is good at protecting but is hard on the weaker hens. Sooo he might need a new home.
Are cockerels ever kind and gentle?

I have a 7 month old rooster that chases the hens and then mates by pulling the feather, he even made ones comb bleed.
One little hen is missing feathers on her wings and head. None on her belly.

Yet the cockerel is good with the other hens. Does the mating dance, stops squabbles between the ladies, i watched him fly 50 feet to get to the ladies when he heard a distress call.
So some good qualities.
He is young and hormonal.
The one he likes to chase he is a bully to.
So he went into a time out for 1 week.
Today I let him out with supervision. Little pecker went after the tiny hen again pulled a feather out. So back into time out.
I am here looking for wisdom - i might cull him but then He might get better...
Idk
I sure would like to find a "Good" rooster.
I lost all my roosters because the one I wanted to keep was trying to kill my hen. Though I sobbed when made the decision, my girls have been happier since.

I too have a hen who has stopped laying (she's the only one who really molted) and although she's finished molting (I think, as she seems to have her feathers back) she's not quite herself. A little standoffish. I think she's responsible for the 'runny pooh', but as for details, I can't really give any ... registered blind. Hoping she'll come out of 'this' if I knew what 'this' was lol

Oh no! I hope he calms down! Yeah our one rooster is so aggressive. He is 7 months as well so I’d like to give him time. Our other rooster is much more relaxed. We have a couple hens who are sick, so once they are better I will try and reintroduce them boys again. But if we don’t keep them then my last resort is to take them to a bachelor flock. It’s a couple hours again but I just get myself to cull them. We’ve had them since the day after they hatched so I’m attached to them.

I hope your roo can calm down!

My cockerel has been a true gentlemen since day one. He drew blood when fighting the dominant hen to claim the flock, but it lasted a couple of days and got fixed with some bad tasting cream in the dominant hen comb. He's 9 months old now and the hens love him.
My dominant hen was won over early.
I saw them fight it out.
But this time the roo attacked a little hen age 2. She is thin and missing lots of feathers. She squats too. Poor thing she will be so submissive to anyone. He really wants to kill her. He will chase her so much she will fly into our arms. She wasn't hand trained but was desperate for help.
I wonder is she is the runt and he wants to remove the weak link

Yes. Pretty much all of mine the last few years of hatching from my birds have been, even during puberty

Maybe your roo didn't have a hen dominant enough to teach him manners. Some roos are just bad and only good for soup.
I would chose a calm, good tempered breed for a rooster, like faverolles or cochin, especially if you have shy/weak hens in your flock.

He has been taken care of.
He was raised by a Broody, raised with all of the hens. Ameraucana with barred rock mix. I rehomed his father for tearing combs. This time he was being way to aggressive. Your right I need to look for calm breeds for a rooster. Ameraucana breeds tend to be flighty. Too bad because he was excellent at alerting and very protective. That is the reason I was trying to work with him- time outs and supervised time w hens. I watched him mate them just fine. But a few he would terrorize. This time he was locked out of the run didn't know he could fly over.
Always learning ! Didn't know about the breeds and genetics- should of known his dad was too aggressive too
