Questions on Framing

Just wanted to let everyone know, I am awake now so am working on questions / answering.

What program did you use to draw this?

Currently paint on the computer *sigh* my tablets being a PITA currently. bad thing about doing anything with electronics, after awhile they tend to start crashing.

I've managed to load a few pictures now, am at an absolute loss as to why this is being built like this in a few spots.

Like Aart said, I have absolutely no experience with building or drafting. My background is 'fine' arts and animal medicine / husbandry. I've tried reading what I can, but im starting to see it gave me just enough thought process to show how incompentant my knowledge currently is. I did try to find a floorplan with the things I wanted, but nothing I could find, so just trying to spit ball it. BUT that is one of the reasons why I posted on here, hoping some of you with much more experience would be able to help / point at the really bad parts.

Last question, before I make a go at this - why did you choose the heights you did? Those don't look like multiples of common dimensions (48", 92 5/8", 96", 108", etc, which means lots of cutting)

Again, partly the inexperiance, I also only have the 15 ft x 25ft plot to work with currently. and was just trying to make things evenish as possible. Though, the 24in's vertically is for the wheelchair access, and the 24in horizontally are for the poop boards.

Wish there were a simple primer for both......but neither are simple.

gods you and me both at this point! I hate feeling - This - Incompetent. I really did try to read / look things up first before bugging you guys, I swear.

All of the other questions I am working on right now. OH also, the coop is on already poured cement, and the run will have the wood aspects on cement and the rest on dirt.

its wide, but i only have the red square to work on. (though its a bit of a rough estimate.
@U_Stormcrow I do have some wiggle room with sizing, what kind of dimensions are you talking about? OH and I can easily make it taller. I wish there was a list of common dimensions i could see / refrence. unless its just things like how i can get a 2x4 in 6ft, 10ft, and so on?

OK, going to try and dig up a drafting program, going to assume a 10'x15' structure, with the roof leaning right to left (or left to right, as you prefer) at a 3/12-ish pitch. Doors on the wide sides, front and back. That's consistent with your original sketches, at least.

Wait... Wait theres a Program that does that? like everything? do i want to know how much it is? sorry that just sort of blew my mind... Left to right please.

Well, you still need to know how to draft and understand construction.
There's a bunch for free, some much better than others,
but most have a pretty big learning curve.

I think I deleted my free copy of Sketch Up, thinking I could just download again when needed, but I'm using my cell phone for internet, so... That's not happening. and I've got a copy of Autocad laying around somewhere, too.

as @aart said, STEEP learning curve. SketchUp I taught myself the rudiments of in about two weeks - it was exactly backwards the way I used to draft, but for many reasons, I was in an unusual situation. For Paint, you did nice work.

holy crap @U_Stormcrow you have autocad?? O.O I used to use maya for *cough * everything but then the school closed and i cant get the student version anymore :'( for some reason i thought they were programs that you could put in the size of the wall and it would draw out the plans. im thinking that is not the case. i can still work on paint and procreate. gods' knows i have experience with both lol.

@aart can i get some recomendations? looking at videos and images are the most helpful for me.

Problem with those is scale, can't really draw 'true' size and shape'.
I've done extensive work with both raster programs(PS and a couple others) as well as vector programs(2d cadd) and parametric programs(solid modeling cadd).

I've been racking my brain for a simple example for you.
Might be best to look for a plan for building a simple shed, that shows the framing and dimensions.

Something like this, but you'd want longer overhangs and leave the rafter blocking out.
It does show the basics of framing a wall and gable roof(with fly rafters even!).
I just goggled Basic Shed Building Plans.
