My family recently got four rabbits. Three does and one buck. So far, they’re doing great. However, we’ve only ever had chickens on our farm. Is there anything extra special I need to know about rabbits? Like, for example: “keep chickens away from rabbits”, or: “cuddle constantly”. Any extra info would be absolutely amazing.

We too had rabbits when I was a kid. We had them in their own cages outside, but Dad moved the cages into the coop for the winter. We had banty chickens in there in the winter. In the summer we had 100s of leghorns for culling. There was never any issues between any of them.

Ours would come to the front of their cages when we came to visit. We could hold them and play with them in the yard and could just pick them up to put them away when we were done.

As is also the case with chickens, lots of the information out there about rabbit care is unhealthy for the animal. For example, small cages with wire floors are recommended and sold by pet stores but those are certainly not ideal.
