Raising a baby chick alone?

i have a 5 mo bantam polish roo that i raised alone for 2 weeks and tried to introduce him to 2 other birds later but he tried to peck them too much for my liking so i kept him separate.
i love him and he is such a sweetie to me, but i'm unsure if he would ever be able to go in with other birds. he doesn't seem to be to friendly to the younger ones i've tried showing him at a distance but it might be he'll fall into place if i introduced to larger birds or a bigger group. especially if i snuck him in during the evening. i'd like to eventually breed him.

I hatched ONE Buff Orp out of a batch of 24 eggs.

But! Chickeeboo is doing wonderfully at 12 weeks in the coop with his other buddies who are two weeks older than him. As soon as he got big enough, he went in with the older chicks and they are all big pals now. It can be done. Good luck!!!

i know this thread is old, but thanks for the information

I have a chick that has no momma because she ate the other eggs as they hatched! I saved this one, and now it is alone with no siblings either

I purchased a light braham chick yesterday from the feed store that is injured. It was being tortured by the other chicks, it is doing better today, though is very lonely. When do you think it will be safe to introduce it to the older chickens? Or should I wait another week for it to heal and get another young chick?

Thanks for the input.

when I had my lone baby chick, I bought 2 more the same age to be with her... it worked out amazingly well! they all stick together :D

This is exactly what happened to me. Now I have one chick to hatch. I know this is old, but how did it turn out? When did you put her back in with the other chickens and did they accept her?

hi! I bought 2 baby chicks to be with her... they are all fine! I raised them all together, and then slowly introduced them to the main flock. At about 3 weeks I put them in a secured run, so the flock could observe and interact with them, then at 5 weeks I let them mingle with the group. All happy together :)
