Random menagerie Christmastime hatch-a-long

I can’t wait to do my own hatch along next year!! It will be my first time hatching eggs from my own birds (hopefully)

TINSEL HAS JUST HATCHED! The first of the batch of 4 that is hatching soon. Egg 3 has also started zipping, and one of the olive eggs too!

Guess what Tinsel is?? A NN paint!!! And there is a chance that it could be a frizzle. This chick must have come from my NN paint mom. Either of my boys could have been the dad. One of them was a black NN frizzle and one a paint silkie/banty ameraucana cross. When the chick feathers in we may know who the dad is (if satin feathered it’s the cross cockerel, if frizzled it is the NN silkie, if just silkied we won’t know until it grows up a bit.) Here’s are pictures of Tinsel!

Egg #4 just hatched and it’s another NN! I am feeling very lucky because I love the showgirls! I’ll call this one Bauble since I loved that name from you Bauble has really pink skin, while Tinsel is already quite dark! Bauble kind of looks like a baby robin that hatched naked and just has the really dark eye spot.

Yes I will! And I’m excited for you to be hatching your own chicks this year. I rarely am able to hatch my own because I never can keep cockerels very long. I feel very blessed to have this batch of babies!

Yes I will! And I’m excited for you to be hatching your own chicks this year. I rarely am able to hatch my own because I never can keep cockerels very long. I feel very blessed to have this batch of babies!

Next year, but me too! Hopefully they are all pullets, I got a pretty good ratio with my hatch this year

Also the first OE egg hatched and I believe it is a paint also! The mom is a cross of a silkied EE roo (recessive white) and a blue cuckoo marans mom, she looks like a black chicken with copper neck and head, with a small comb and big cheeks. Since I think the chick is paint then the dad would have been the paint banty Ameruacana and silkie cross. Which means this chick has 25% chance of silkied feathers. And basically is a barnyard mix Easter egger.
