rare duck breeds

i want to get some rare duck breeds but i am not sure which breeds are rare searched it on google but found nothing helpful
we are moving house so it would be after this
any help is apreciated

Well... "rare" depends on the country, I imagine?
Where do you live?

And what do you want ducks for?
...Eggs?
Meat...?
Just for them to be beautiful...?

...Do you have a preference in size/weight?

If you want beautiful, (relatively) rare domestic ducks, you could want :
- Dutch Hookbill ducks,
- Forest ducks,
- Abacot Ranger ducks,
- Duclair ducks (the real French one),
- Orpington ducks,
- German Pekin ducks,
- Magpie ducks.

There are other breeds, of course - some endangered -, but since you did not precise what exactly you would prefer...?

i live in devon (uk) but we are planning on moving to ireland
i am vegan so i dont eat meat but would not be put of by a rare meat bird (as long as they dont die quickly like some meat chickens that are literaly bred to die young)
although i am vegan we eat the eggs are birds lay
i just want to help any rare breeds really and add some interesting birds to my flock
looking beautiful is good too!

Hmmmmm...

So... I do wonder if you could find Shetland ducks in Ireland...?

They are beautiful, good layers, and very severely endangered... so you would help greatly if you could procure yourself some, and keep the breed going...

But to help you choose a breed, why not contact the Poultry Club of Great Britain - to see if they could give you informations on the endangered breeds you could find in Ireland?

...Or otherwise : the Entente Européenne d'Aviculture et de Cuniculture...?

Look up the livestock conservancy, then look under "ducks". It will show you all of the endangered duck breeds. I have two "endangered" breeds. I have Dutch Hookbills (critically endangered) and Buff Ducks (watch).
