We have a male Mallard that has been ours for 4 years. This spring we purchased 5 ducklings with the hope that they were all female. We got 4 females and one male, a Pekin. We have not let the Mallard in with the ducklings, who are full sized but still quite young, because he immediately wants to mate. It’s traumatic for the girls! The Pekin is also young and not yet showing signs of that type of interest in the females, but my worry is how the two males will get along once we allow them to be together. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
