I'm looking at experimenting with raw wool in the garden and will have some leftover. I was wondering if anyone has used it in nesting boxes. Was it a good choice? Thanks.

I tried something similar (wool that had been cleaned to use as upmarket packing material) and it wasn't ideal, at least for a nest for hatching eggs. It did keep the nest toasty, but it was very hard to poo pick chick droppings out of it, and it stayed damp if it got wet. But neither broody nor chicks seemed to have issues with it entangling them, or them eating it. I haven't been inclined to repeat the experiment; shavings work for me.I'm looking at experimenting with raw wool in the garden and will have some leftover.
