Re-purposed trampoline to a chicken tractor!

We have lived here 6 years, and peacock was here before us, living under our pool deck. We have never fed him and we coexist peacefully. All this time, and even with addition of chickens, I have never seen a coyote, fox or raccoon, and only 1 rabbit in all this time. We live in the woods. I've seen owls and hawks but they never come nearer than trees across the street. I can only imagine its the peacock protecting his turf?? My friends brother lives in a nearby town and coyote got one of his hens, so I'm sure they're around in the thick woods behind our property.

Ok, thanks for the reply,
I would like to look into getting one for our flock. Does it matter if it is a girl or boy? Will it bother baby chicks? Does it eat the chicken feed? Where does it get food?

The boys are the pretty ones :). We got our chicks in March and they were indoors until fully feathered, so no idea what a peacock would do with chicks. He does pick at stray chicken feed and scratch grains he finds around the coop & run. Before we got chickens, we did not feed him regularly, but I see him picking at plants and he eats my garden prunings. There are also a lot of flowers I can't have because he will eat them. Our neighbors may also feed him sometimes, cat food, stale cereal, or birdseed. I did notice when we went to the zoo, none of the peacocks we saw was as pretty as ours!

Thanks a lot for your info, would love to see a picture of your feathered friends including your peacock....I wonder where I might find one?

I just got a trampoline for this very purpose (to the kids' disgust)! I'm planning to use it as a day pen for young birds....the predators seem to leave my adult birds alone, but the youngsters, not so much. Hubby picks it up this evening. Got it free from a family nearby.

I agree very good job! I just acquired a trampoline frame and also intend to use it as a chicken tractor. I have 30 Cornish cross coming in 2 weeks and I plan to use this idea to house them. My current tractor is just so heavy I though this might work better.
