I did notice that, but then the splash EE wouldn’t be the father. Unless you’re thinking some of the hens are blue barred too?Doesn't the single barred EE look blue barred to you, RAA?

My original roosters were a splash barred EE and a black barred EE over speckled sussex hens. Resulting females are 4 black barred and 1 blue barred. The 1 blue barred hen has a pea comb and lays a nice blue egg, the others are single comb and lay green/teal or tan. I had a blue ameraucana that I was growing out with them but he developed leakage and I culled him but he had been mating them. The rooster I kept for breeding is single barred and single gene for mottling.I did notice that, but then the splash EE wouldn’t be the father.
