Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me out with one of my week-old ducklings. He has a little red dot with white in it right above his tail. He picks at it sometimes when rearranging his feathers but other than that it doesn't seem to be bothering him. I was thinking it could maybe be an infection, feather cyst etc. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to BYC

That place is where the preen gland is that is where they get the waxy stuff they spread all over their feathers to keep them water repellent . That is the reason you see him rubbing his face over it then he'll distribute it all over his feathers it's called preening.
