We bought our first six young "hens" last summer, and one of them turned out to be a fella. He's an aggressive little bugger, but he's too small to hurt an adult (he's a silkie) and he's so funny to watch as he struts around all busy and clucking all day, so we're happy to have him around for the moment.
The little guy is only a year old and his spurs seem to be getting longer and sharper, though, so perhaps we'll have to think about rehoming him one day. The thing is, there's a lot of cockfighting in our area and I'm sure I heard somewhere that sometimes people will take your rooster and use him as bait for cockfighting. I'm really not into that. Any of you know if there's any truth to that rumour? I'll ask around locally too, but I'm curious to hear what you have to say.
