Almost 4 weeks ago I applied Blu-Kote to the head of a buff Orpington pullet with a bleeding comb. There's a small chunk out of the back of her comb now but the wound has healed up very nicely. However, she still has a blackish head and I'll love her no matter what she looks like but I'd rather my pretty yellow girl doesn't look like someone drew a sharpie on her, lol. Any tips on safely removing blu-kote from a chicken's feathers?

Try to gently remove the Blue Kote from her comb by gently tugging on an edge. If it gives then good. If not wait and try the next day. I’ve only had to use blue Kote once. It came off nicely after a week but I reapplied after cleaning the wound.

There is none left on the comb, only on the feathers around it. I may get damp paper towels with warm water to see if that makes any difference.
Water will not remove the staining on the feathers.
Rubbing alcohol might work...but I wouldn't chance using that on a birds head.
Next time you think you might need an antiseptic, choose something other than blukote. Most wounds don't need anything but time to heal.
