Rescue chickens

What a transformation!
Has she flown yet?
The rescue hens I’ve had here it seems have never had the opportunity to fly and when they finally make that unplanned leap and instinct opens the wings they look totally flabbergasted when they land, albeit a bit untidily.
It’s a complete tear jerk moment.
You’ve done a fantastic job.:clap:clap:celebrate

Ha! I didn't know that!

I've not seen Georgina fly, but that doesn't mean she hasn't flown. A few of the others have had a few fairly impressive flights, especially when they get excited. There has been the odd 'not so gracious' landing, but they quite often take flight and land like it was nothing.

I'm going to allow them to grow all their feathers back. Flying is their primary natural defence mechanism, so I would never take that way from them. If they decide to fly off, then I'm clearly doing something wrong! :)

It'd be fantastic if you managed to catch one of those flight on video!

Hard to beleive those pictures are the same chicken. I still don't get how people can commit such a vile act :(.
The transformation is incredible. It's so wonderful that they still can recover as well as they can after such prolonged abuse.
I've intentionally left out what I know of the environment my chooks come from. It's too depressing. The main thing is that the few I've saved are spoilt rotten!

Fascinating!!! Here in Hawaii, there are tons, tons of feral chickens. Not even the original game chickens that are protected by law. I see chickens run over frequently. Anyway, there are no chicken rescue organizations here that I know of. Kudos to you!!!
Yes, I experienced feral chickens on Cook Islands a few months back. I was glad to free chooks, but it's terrible to see them killed. It breaks my heart.
I hope there is, or someone would start, an animal welfare organisation to manage the wild chicken population.

I do have a camera that will take a film clip but I often forget to put it in my pocket and when I do see something that I would like to record the moment is usually over by the time I start thinking.:he

Such a sweet experience I'm so glad for her! I'm going to speak on this kind of animal cruelty this next month! On YouTube there is a video on a sanctuary for rescued chickens in th UK I believe called
The secret life of a chicken.
Thanks, and I'm glad to hear that you're speaking about this.

I recently joined SAFE (https://www.safe.org.nz/) here in New Zealand to try to make a difference. I donate to their chicken campaigns on a monthly basis.

I was writing a little memory page for my beloved BOudie whi died yesterday and came across loads of pictures of my choosk immediately after they got out of the factory, so if you need material to show what the chicken industry do to these poor creatures, then I'm more than happy to pick out quite a few pictures.
