What a transformation!
Has she flown yet?
The rescue hens I’ve had here it seems have never had the opportunity to fly and when they finally make that unplanned leap and instinct opens the wings they look totally flabbergasted when they land, albeit a bit untidily.
It’s a complete tear jerk moment.
You’ve done a fantastic job.
Ah, she's quite a looker - I'm sure a rooster would fall for her straight away! How beautiful! I'm not referring to her appearance although she is also physically beautiful.
The transformation is incredible. It's so wonderful that they still can recover as well as they can after such prolonged abuse.Hard to beleive those pictures are the same chicken. I still don't get how people can commit such a vile act .
She is soooo happy. You should see her dashing around not knowing if she should eat the apple, have a dust bath, sun bathe, peck around in the dirt, sit on the eggs, eat or just run around madlyAmazing. She truly is a whole new chicken from what she was before. She looks happy and healthy.
Yes, I experienced feral chickens on Cook Islands a few months back. I was glad to free chooks, but it's terrible to see them killed. It breaks my heart.Fascinating!!! Here in Hawaii, there are tons, tons of feral chickens. Not even the original game chickens that are protected by law. I see chickens run over frequently. Anyway, there are no chicken rescue organizations here that I know of. Kudos to you!!!
I do have a camera that will take a film clip but I often forget to put it in my pocket and when I do see something that I would like to record the moment is usually over by the time I start thinking.Ha! I didn't know that!
I've not seen Georgina fly, but that doesn't mean she hasn't flown. A few of the others have had a few fairly impressive flights, especially when they get excited. There has been the odd 'not so gracious' landing, but they quite often take flight and land like it was nothing.
I'm going to allow them to grow all their feathers back. Flying is their primary natural defence mechanism, so I would never take that way from them. If they decide to fly off, then I'm clearly doing something wrong!
It'd be fantastic if you managed to catch one of those flight on video!
Thanks, and I'm glad to hear that you're speaking about this.Such a sweet experience I'm so glad for her! I'm going to speak on this kind of animal cruelty this next month! On YouTube there is a video on a sanctuary for rescued chickens in th UK I believe called
The secret life of a chicken.
